There are many other services that professional organizers can perform to give themselves increased
opportunities in business. This panel consists of organizers who have added other components to their work
and significantly changed their businesses during the last several years. They will serve as examples to the
audience, suggesting that they look inside themselves for skills and interests that they, too, can use to expand
their businesses into other areas.
When Jay Davidson became an organizer he had been teaching in public schools for 27 years. Since
becoming a member of NAPO he has become a public speaker and the author of a weekly column, three
booklets, and a book.
Denslow Brown identifies herself as an Organizer/Coach who, despite living in a rural area, has a national
clientele that she serves by telephone and the Internet.
Kevin and Lynn Hall develop their own products and resell existing cabinets that can be custom fitted to the needs of their clients. Kevin holds a California contractor's license so that he can assemble and install the roll-out shelving that he sells. Amanda Kovattana's first client asked her to do many home maintenance chores, which led to installing shelves and closet organizers, which led to a class in construction technology, which led to being a project manager for a six month commercial remodel, which led to managing people, which led to coaching clients in time management.
Clyde Lemer has a business degree and combines his accounting knowledge, marketing ingenuity, and
entrepreneurial spirit by working for his clients to deliver a full array of computer care. His most recent innovation is working nationwide with clients to serve them as a web site designer.
