The home is the most violent place in America, and San Francisco homes are no exception. Children are often the witnesses to, or victims of, these violent crimes. The Kids' Turn Nonviolent Family Skills Program is San Francisco's first ever parenting without violence curriculum developed in 2002 at the request of The Honorable Donna Hitchens, Presiding Judge of San Francisco Superior Court. The goal of the program is to help separating families, whose lives are complicated by family violence, reduce the incidence of violence, which negatively impacts their children. During this workshop, facilitators from Kids' Turn's Nonviolent Family Skills Program will discuss the successful delivery of violence free parent education to participants court-ordered from Family Court, Criminal Court, Dependency Court, and Juvenile Court.
